Our experts are available to travel worldwide to estimate and evaluate high-value collections. Additionally, Nomisma periodically organizes valuation days in various Italian cities to provide clients with free evaluations and expert opinions.

Yes, all our valuations are free of charge. Our experts are available for confidential, non-binding appraisals. Furthermore, dedicated valuation days are held throughout Italy all year round.

Catalogues can be freely consulted on our website under the Auctions section. You can view digital versions, download PDF catalogues, or browse the archived results of past sales. Active auctions are available in the “Current Auctions” section.

Lots viewings typically take place at our headquarters in the days leading up to the sale. Viewing is open to the public during the hours published in the catalogue, or by appointment on any other day during opening hours.

To register, create an account on our website and provide a valid ID along with your tax code (fiscal code). First-time clients may be asked to provide references.

Participation is available through four channels:

• By live telephone bidding (upon reservation)
• In person in the auction room during the sale
• Online in real-time via our platform or partner portals
• By written absentee bid submitted in advance

An absentee bid sets the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a lot. The system will bid on your behalf, executing increments to secure the lot at the lowest possible price relative to competing offers.

Upon reserving the service at least 48 hours prior to the auction, an operator will call you a few lots before your item of interest comes up, allowing you to place live bids over the phone.

Yes, all bids and increments follow this fixed scale:

No. All registered bids are firm, binding, and irrevocable, whether submitted in person, by telephone, online, or via written absentee form.

These symbols indicate specific lot conditions:

• § — Nomisma Aste does not process export permits for lots marked with this symbol, as official clearance is unlikely to be granted. These items cannot be exported outside Italy.
• # — Indicates items featuring straps or accessories made from endangered or protected species (e.g., alligator, crocodile, lizard). Without CITES permits, these components will not be shipped outside Italy and are displayed in photos for preview purposes only. Nomisma Aste reserves the right to remove these components prior to shipment to countries where regulations prohibit them.
• * — Lots originating outside the EU are subject to a 5% VAT, calculated on both the hammer price and buyer’s premium. For cross-border distance sales to private EU buyers where local VAT applies, the tax rate of the destination country will be applied.

Exporting any cultural item aged 50 years or older requires an Export Licence (Attestato di Libera Circolazione) issued by the Italian Ministry of Culture. The Auction House files these requests on behalf of the buyer free of charge.

Processing takes approximately 10 to 12 weeks minimum. Temporarily imported lots cannot be collected in person by buyers and must be shipped at the buyer’s expense through the Auction House.

Export permits are submitted to the Ministry via the SUE portal under these rules:

• Lots valued under €50,000: Self-declaration (DVAL), requiring approximately 50–60 days processing time.
• Lots valued at or over €50,000: Export Licence (ALC), requiring approximately 10–12 weeks processing time.

Nomisma Aste will apply for export permits only after full payment is received and the final invoice is issued (which legally transfers ownership). Nomisma Aste assumes no responsibility for approval outcomes or government processing timelines.

A condition report is a detailed technical summary prepared by our experts assessing an item’s state of conservation. It can be requested via email or WhatsApp.

A percentage commission (inclusive of legal taxes) is added to the hammer price as detailed in the terms of sale for each catalogue:

• 21% for room, pre-auction, telephone, email, or written absentee bids.
• 24% for live online bidding and autobids.
• Commissions may vary when using third-party platforms other than Bid Inside. Please consult our Terms and Conditions for details.

Payment must be settled within the timeframe specified in the terms of sale, strictly within 15 calendar days from receipt of the pro forma invoice.

Shipping fees depend on weight, dimensions, insured value, and final destination. A detailed shipping estimate is calculated and added to the purchase total in the pro forma invoice. Full details are available on our website under:

If you decide to consign an item for sale, a consignment agreement will be signed. This document clearly outlines all terms, including the reserve price below which the item cannot be sold. The agreement must be signed by the account holder matching the IBAN designated to receive sale proceeds. Commission fees apply only upon successful sale.

The consignment agreement is the legal contract formalizing the entrustment of property to Nomisma Aste for sale. It specifies consignor details, itemized listings, reserve prices, agreed commission rates, and terms of sale. A valid photo ID and fiscal code are required to complete registration.

For large or fragile items, you may submit clear, detailed photographs for preliminary evaluation by our experts before bringing or shipping the items.

To meet Public Security reporting requirements, clients must present a valid government-issued ID. We strongly recommend providing all original documentation—such as certificates of authenticity, appraisal reports, purchase receipts, provenance records, export licences, original boxes, and papers. Comprehensive documentation significantly enhances lot valuation and market presentation.

Settlement occurs within 60 days following the auction date, after buyer funds have cleared. Payment is made via bank transfer accompanied by a settlement statement detailing final sale prices and applied commissions.

If a lot receives no bids, it is considered unsold. It will remain available for purchase on our online shop for 30 days following the auction at the reserve price plus buyer’s premium. If it remains unsold after this period, the consignor may choose to collect the item or re-consign it for a future sale with an adjusted estimate. No commission fees are charged on unsold lots.

To follow the auction live and track your lot:

• On auction day, log into the Current Auctions section and click LIVE to watch real-time bidding and sales progress.
• Register on our client portal at least 24 hours prior to the sale to ensure account verification.
• Review your consignment note (nota di carico) sent a few weeks before the auction, which lists the exact lot numbers assigned to your items.

To request a credit line increase, email info@nomisma-aste.it with appropriate financial or trade references.

Yes. Once your registered account is active, you may participate in all subsequent auctions without re-registering.
